The four inputs behind a quote
A useful quote starts with the two towns, not only the two countries. The following inputs are assessed together:
- Road mileage: the practical route between the holding institution and receiving point.
- Departure country: local authority structure, release papers and collection conditions.
- Wooden coffin: the family selects the model; the price starts at €320.
- Exceptional procedure: investigation, post-mortem examination, infectious-disease rules or exhumation can add steps.
Standard cost lines
| Item | Current price statement | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Road transport | €0.40–€0.70 per kilometre | route-dependent range |
| Metal inner coffin | €50 | required for cross-border coffin transport |
| Standard document handling | no additional handling charge | included in the transport price |
| Preparation and dressing | no additional charge | hospitals abroad may charge more than €1,000 for this service |
| Basic funeral equipment | no additional charge | market value €50–€80 |
Costs outside the transport service
A hospital, public mortuary, local funeral director, consulate, cemetery or crematorium may charge its own fee. Those costs are not disguised inside the mileage rate. Where known, they should appear as third-party lines so a family or insurer can see who provides each service.
The wooden coffin is selected separately and starts at €320. Additional funeral accessories and storage by agreement may also change the amount. If a route does not exist in the current price matrix, no automatic interpolation is made; it is calculated individually.
Getting a fixed amount
Send the exact collection town, institution, destination town and a call-back number. If the burial location is outside the town centre, include the municipality or cemetery name. The quote can then use the correct road distance and handover point.
Fuel, tolls, public fees and a changed itinerary can affect an indicative figure. The fixed amount and its validity are therefore confirmed directly for the case.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price based on straight-line distance?
No. The calculation uses a realistic drivable route, including the roads and border crossings required for the actual collection and destination cities.
What is included without an extra service fee?
Standard document handling, preparation and dressing of the deceased and basic funeral equipment are included within the stated service framework.
What is charged separately?
The chosen wooden coffin, exceptional procedures and third-party charges such as hospital mortuary storage, authority fees or cemetery services may be separate.
Can an insurer receive an itemised quotation?
Yes. The transport service can be separated from known third-party charges so an insurer or assistance company can assess the covered elements.
Why can two routes from the same country cost differently?
Collection cities may be hundreds of kilometres apart, destination regions require different borders, and local release procedures can change the operational scope.
Is an online estimate a binding price?
No. Matrix prices are indicative. A fixed quote is confirmed after the exact towns, route, documents and coffin choice have been checked.
